The term "Social software" can be applied to a whole host of web-based software programs which allow users to participate in the creation and sharing of content on the web. Many of the tools may be categorized as: social discovery & sharing (blogs, Digg, Reddit); social bookmarking (Furl, del.icious); social tagging (Flickr, LibraryThing); social networking (MySpace, Facebook, Orkut); social collaboration (wikis, web annotation tools); and social citation (Zotero, CiteULike).

The workshop will provide participants with an introduction and overview to these social software tools and some practical tips on how social software may be used in libraries.
